Obituary

Prairie View resident, Twila D. Runnion, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Phillips County Hospital, Phillipsburg, at the age of 73.

She was born September 18, 1944 in Phillips County, Kansas the daughter of Harold W. & Mary Bell (Norton) Stapel.

Growing up, Twila loved her horses and became accomplished at breaking them. She spent many hours on trail rides and with Saddle club activities.

Twila was United in marriage to Stanley Runnion on April 12, 1964 in Phillipsburg, Kansas and moved to the Prarie View area.

Once Twila moved to town, keeping horses became more difficult, so her interests changed to chickens. Twila provided eggs for many people in the community. In the later years, Twila would say that she was going to quit the chicken business, but when she saw the little chicks in the farm supply stores, she couldn't resist.

Racing was another interest of Twila's. Sunday's during racing season, Twila would be found glued to the TV watching the NASCAR races. She had a notebook where she had listed all of the racers and their rankings and she was diligent in keeping the notebook up to date.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley of the home; son, Stoney Runnion & wife, Jill of Bennington, KS; 2 grandsons, Randall Runnion and Bailey Runnion of Bennington, KS; 2 brothers, Larry Stapel & Garry Stapel, both of Phillipsburg and two honorary grandchildren Abby and Kaden Graham and their parents Mark and Melissa Graham of Prarie View, KS.

Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the Prairie View Community Center, Prairie View, KS, with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating. A private inurnment will be held in the Prairie View Cemetery.

Friends may sign the book at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2017.
