Logan Resident, Veda Arleen Brasted, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2025, in the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 87.

Veda was born January 18, 1938, to her parents, Myron (Mike) and Mercedes Horn in Logan, Kansas.

On November 1, 1958, Veda married her husband Ivan Brasted in the courthouse in Phillipsburg; they were married for 68 years.

She was honored by the Logan Republican as "Mother of the Year" and was recognized by Senior Companions for her service as a Senior Companion Volunteer.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Mercedes; daughter Diana; siblings Shirley Smith, Clayton Joe, Ed, Roger, and Frank.

Survivors include her husband Ivan of the home; son Michael Brasted and wife Carol of Lyons, Nebraska; daughter Sherry Robinson and husband Neil of Logan, Kansas; son-in-law Aaron Riggs of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; brothers James Horn and wife Elaine of Salina, Kansas, Myron (Chuck) Horn and wife Mary of McPherson, Kansas, Danny Horn and wife Dot of Hutchison, Kansas, Nick Horn and wife Shirley of Antonino, Kansas; sisters Peg Campbell of Phillipsburg, Idona Duncan and husband Jerry Fries of Benkelman, Nebraska, 8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She will lie in state 12-8 p.m. on Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. for visitation at the Logan Funeral Home, Logan.

A funeral service is planned for Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Logan, Kansas, with Pastor Troy Buss officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Logan, Kansas.
