Venda (Damon) Bailey was born on November 20, 1952, at the Smith County Memorial Hospital, in Smith Center, Kansas, to Dale and Darlene (Conrad) Damon. She passed away on June 16, 2026, at Downs Care and Rehab, in Downs, Kansas.

Venda grew up in Phillipsburg, Kansas, and graduated with the Phillipsburg High School class of 1970. After Graduation, she went on to marry Vernon Bailey on April 25, 1971, at the United Methodist Church in Phillipsburg, Kansas. They made their home on a farm north of Gretna, Kansas, where Venda worked as a homemaker and helped on the farm.

Vernon and Venda were blessed with two children, Jeffrey and Carrie. Venda supported her children’s activities in sports and 4-H.

Venda was an avid reader, skilled at cross stitching, and enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles. After she had raised her children, she worked at a daycare in Agra, Kansas, where she loved helping the children. After moving from the farm to town, Venda worked at the senior center in Phillipsburg. There she gained many new friendships.

One of Venda’s favorite titles was Grandma, when she was blessed with her only grandson, Jaxson, in 2013. Venda and Jaxson could be found making many adventures all around town on her scooter.

In 2025, Venda moved to Downs Care and Rehab, along with her husband Vernon, where they were both welcomed into a new family there. She felt at home with the good nurses and staff who took great care of her when she was in need.

Venda was preceded in death by her parents Dale and Darlene, and infant brother Kirk, and a very special friend Betty Matteson.

Survivors include her husband Vernon of the home, children Jeff Bailey and wife Geniece of Phillipsburg, and Carrie Bailey and significant other Shae Bard of Agra, and her grandson Jaxson Bailey of Philipsburg.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, in Phillipsburg, Kansas, with Pastor Dave Hardy officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Venda will lie instate on Sunday and Monday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a family visitation Monday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to Downs Care and Rehab or the Golden Years Center.
