Vernon L "Leroy" Hutton was born in rural Rooks County, Kansas on February 7, 1932, to Vernon W. and Edna (Brown) Hutton.  He departed this life on October 7, 2023 at the age of 91.

Leroy attended the Layton and Sarver rural schools in Rooks County.  In the third grade he and his brother rode a horse to school and the following year his horse pulled a two-wheeled cart with two of his brothers to school each day.  Leroy graduated from Codell High School in 1950.

He married Arlyne Hoar on June 17, 1951.  They raised three children.  Leroy farmed in Rooks County until 1960 when the family moved to Hays, KS where he was employed in the oil field.  In 1966 they moved to Great Bend, KS where Leroy treated oil wells for an oil field chemical company.  In 1972, the family moved to Plainview, NE where Leroy and Arlyne purchased and managed a hardware store.  Leroy and Arlyne moved back to Kansas in 1978.

Leroy was a devoted husband and father.  He was most proud of having taught each of his children and several of his grandchildren how to safely drive a car.  He was an exceptionally talented problem-solver mechanically and enjoyed a mechanical challenge.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Carroll, George, Max Hutton, and grandson, Aaron Kinnan.  He is survived by his Wife of 72 years, children Sharon (Gene) Kinnan of Oakdale, NE, Kirk (Deb) of Blair, NE, and Muriel (John) Iman of Agra.  He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13 at 10:30 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel with Jonathan Iman officiating.  The service will be streamed live on the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel Facebook page.  The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time on Friday.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Woodston Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:00 Wednesday & Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Agra Methodist Church or Teens For Christ.
