Phillipsburg resident, Vernon Lawyer, passed away on April 1, 2024, at the Phillips County Retirement Center in Phillipsburg, Kansas, at the age of 94.

Vernon was born in Elkhart, Kansas, on July 21, 1929, to his parents Harry and Bertha Lawyer.

He was united in marriage to Berneda (McDowell) Lawyer on May 24, 1949, in Kirwin, Kansas.

Vernon is preceded in death by his wife Berneda Lawyer, parents Harry and Bertha Lawyer, son Dean Lawyer, daughter Pam Lawyer, brother Walter Lawyer, brother-in-law Roger Fish, and two infant children.

Survivors include his son Gene Lawyer and wife Ardis of Phillipsburg, Kansas, sister Verla Fish of Yuma, Arizona, daughter–in-law Glennie Lawyer of Aurora, Colorado, and granddaughters Kim Andrews and husband Rush of Aurora, Colorado, and Brooke Estrada and husband Edgar of Bertrand, Nebraska.

A graveside service for Vernon and Berneda Lawyer will be held on April 20, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at the Bogart Cemetery, outside of Kirwin, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Phillips County Retirement Center or the United Methodist Church.
