Vona Leigh Hoppe entered His presence June 18, 2012.
Vona was born on a farm near Eckley Colorado on July 31, 1932. Her parents were Elwood & Luella Stone. Four years later they moved to Colorado Springs.
She graduated from Colorado Springs High School. From there she spent
one year at Emmaus Bible School in Chicago. She returned to Colorado
Springs and worked four years as a secretary in a lawyer's reference office.
Vona moved to Chicago where she was married. From this union two daughters were born. Coleen & Karen Hoppe.
Coleen preceded her mother to heaven May 18, 1972.
Vona lived in the Phillipsburg area from 1972 until her death.
She worked at Prairie Haven Nursing Home four years. Then worked at Phillips County Hospital as unit secretary for 15 years. She retired due to illness, leaving many friends.
Vona is survived by her daughter Karen Bruning, son-in-law Floy Bruning. Two grandchildren Ben Bruning, & Shannon Murdock and her husband Johnny. Five great-grandchildren. Payton, TJ., Caiden, Bree and Johnna.
Sisters Patty McGuire and husband Jerry. And Shery Nelson. Many nieces and nephews.
Vona was cherished by her devoted family and many friends: Whom she
cherished and prayed for every day.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was very important to her. She loved and trusted Him with all her heart.
Cremation was planned. A memorial service will be held Thurs., June 21, at 11:00 a.m. in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg, with Pastor LeRoy Herder officiating.
Friends may sign her book on Wednesday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
