Walter E. Russ

Walter E. Russ, known to many as Wally, of Lenora, KS, passed away on September 4, 2026, in Downs, KS. He was born on March 5, 1962, in Norton, KS.

Wally graduated from Lenora High School in Lenora, KS, and later attended technical school for automotive repair. He put those skills to work as a mechanic for his sister’s shop in Bismarck, ND, and in Washington State. He also worked as a farmhand and drove trucks whenever needed. He will be remembered as a man who worked hard and used his hands well.

He was preceded in death by his father, Millard W. “Dude” Russ; his mother, Walta (Hunter) Russ; and his sisters, Lova Perkins and Connie Morris.

Wally is survived by his daughters, Reagan Heikes and Cassandra Russ. He is also survived by his sister, Terri Capps, and husband, Ned Capps of Kirwin, KS. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and peace to the family who loved him.

Cremation was planned. No services scheduled at this time.
