Obituary

Wayne Earl Baker, the son of Floris and Hazel (Munyon) Baker, was born June 15, 1925, on the farm that was homesteaded by his great-grandfather, Caleb Baker, and passed away Friday evening, April 1, 2011, at the Phillips County Retirement Center at
the age of 85.

Wayne attended Plum Creek Country School and graduated from Agra High School in 1942. He married Lavonne Ehm on June 6, 1948, at Calvary Baptist Church in
Phillipsburg, Kansas. They were married 62 years and were blessed with five children.

Wayne was a farmer and rancher who loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, attending auctions, raising horses, visiting with friends, and attending sporting events,
especially when his grandchildren played. Wayne was blind the last twelve years of his life, but was very patient with his blindness.

He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed life and had a fun sense of humor. He always had a quote or poem to recite at any time. He was a generous and giving man who especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.

Wayne trusted in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his son Rodney Baker; his parents, and his brother Bob Baker. He is survived by his wife Lavonne of the home: his son Roger Baker,
Phillipsburg; his daughters Sherri Baker, Agra; Terri Baker, and Deb Robinson and husband Gary, all of Phillipsburg; his grandchildren, Dr. Lacie Gregory and husband Nate of Wellington, KS, Lannie Robinson and wife Laura of Derby, KS, and Logan
Robinson and wife Caley of Phillipsburg; and five great-granddaughters, Kylan, Kirstyn,
and Kinley Gregory of Wellington, KS, Ashlyn Robinson of Derby, KS, and Brinnley Robinson of Phillipsburg, KS.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel, Phillipsburg with Pastor Mark Gervais officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View (Dixon) Cemetery, Phillips County.

Wayne will lie in state from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday and again until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church or the Phillips County Retirement Center.
