Obituary

Wayne Edward Grismore, son of Frankie & Joimae (Lee) Grismore, was born June 7, 1959 at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, Iowa, and passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at his home in Kirwin, Kansas.

Wayne "Sug" spent his childhood and teenage years in Powersville, Missouri. He loved to tell stories from these younger years and had many happy memories of this time in his life. In 1980 "Sug" moved to Kansas, where he and his mother resided on the family farm three miles east and ¼ mile south of Kirwin. On the farm, "Sug" raised feeder pigs and cared for a large strawberry patch. He enjoyed auctions & garage sales and hunting and fishing.

His greatest joys were his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. "Sug" always referred to them as "HIS KIDS", since he never married and had children of his own.

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Frankie; a half brother, Lester; and his grandparents, Jesse & Lorraine (Scott) Lee and Jay & Pequo (Garten) Grismore.

Survivors include his mother, Joimae Grismore, of Kirwin; two brothers, Billy Grismore of Phillipsburg, KS and Frankie Grismore & wife, Lindsay, of Purdin, MO; three sisters: Joimae Kidd & husband, Mike, of Auxvasse, MO; Lorraine Werner & fiancé, Mickey Henderson, of Salina, KS; and Barbara Whitney & husband, Evan, of Norton, KS; 13 nieces & nephews; 10 great-nieces & nephews; and many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 21, at 1:30 p.m. in the Kirwin Cemetery, Kirwin, KS with Pastor Joel Hiesterman officiating.

Wayne Grismore will lie in state Thurs. from 5-9 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. and again Sat. from 9 a.m. – noon at the Olliff-Boeve Memorial Chapel in Phillipsburg. The family will receive friends Friday evening at the funeral home from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.
