Obituary

Wayne LeRoy Larick was born to Willie and Ruth Gower Larick on January 14, 1948 and passed from this life in April 4, 2014.

Childhood years were spent playing baseball in the pasture, basketball, badminton, flag football, bowling and everything else country kids could dream up.

Wayne attended grade school and high school in Agra. After graduation in 1966, he said he was going to college and get a white collar job! He enrolled at Fort Hays State where he graduated with a BS in Business and Physical Education. After teaching for a couple of years at Immaculata High School in Leavenworth, Wayne could see his love for farming over shadowed the "white collar" job and decide to come back to Agra and start his farming career. Wayne loved to drive his tractors and keep the ground freshly tilled.

Being a Gower and Larick he loved his coffee. Each morning he stopped by the elevator to have a cup of coffee and visit with everyone.

Loving to visit with friends & neighbors, you would find Wayne eating at local cafes where he could sit and discuss crop prices, weather, & just about anything. There were not many feed or seed meetings around the area that Wayne did not attend. He loved coming home with a new cap that he traded with brother-in –laws, nephews, & other relatives.

Most people would see Wayne during the day driving in his pickup with his 3 legged dog sitting beside him. Wayne loved to say his dog could catch a rabbit faster on the 3 legs than theirs could on 4 legs.

The new excitement in Wayne's life was his twin nephews, Patrick and David, Warren's and Jenny's boys. The Larick name continues in a new generation. Wayne was proud to talk about the boys at the cafes & elevator visits. To keep the Larick's tradition of the farming, Wayne bought them each a bred heifer to start their own herds when they were only 2 weeks old.

Wayne's last day was spent enjoying having coffee, lunch with Edna & Betty, phone call with Warren and Tom, visiting with Charles and the family, and enjoying holding the babies. While holding David, he looked at him and said "I think I need to take him to the elevator and show him off".

Farming was Wayne's life and he was enjoying it until his last breath, passing away in his tractor while feeding cattle.
